Classic Caprese Salad

– 2 large ripe tomatoes, sliced – 8 oz (about 225g) fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced – Fresh basil leave


– Extra virgin olive oil – Balsamic glaze (optional) – Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste


Arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices on a serving plate, alternating them and slightly overlapping. 

Place fresh basil leaves on top of each tomato and mozzarella slice. You can use whole leaves or tear them into smaller pieces. 

Drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the tomato, mozzarella, and basil. 

Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. 

Optionally, drizzle balsamic glaze over the salad for added flavor. If you don't have balsamic glaze, you can use regular balsamic vinegar, but it's recommended to reduce it on the stove until it thickens slightly. 

Serve immediately as a refreshing appetizer or side dish.
