Dolly Parton discusses the song that her husband advised her against recording.

You may anticipate that Dolly Parton's friends and family would be die-hard country music fans given her status as one of the most well-known names in the genre.

But, as we recently discovered, even though she is the one singing it, it isn't precisely the case.

The "9 to 5" singer talked to Absolute Radio Breakfast in late June about recording a cover of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven."

While she was busy promoting her new album Rockstar, which is due out on November 17, and her recently published book Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones.

She went on to say that her longtime partner of 57 years, Carl Dean, wasn't too excited about the prospect of her performing one of the most well-known rock tunes ever.

She even revealed he had no interest in her particular brand of music.

She unintentionally revealed to broadcaster Dave Berry that country music was Carl's least favorite genre.

"I did a version of 'Stairway to Heaven' some years back as a bluegrass kind of thing, and he didn't think I should have done it," she continued.
