Elton John and Bernie Taupin receive the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song at an all-star tribute event in DC.

Elton John and Bernie Taupin were honored in Washington, D.C. by some of the top names in music from all genres.

Their relationship, achievements, and contributions to songwriting earned them the U.S. Library of Congress' Gershwin Prize For Popular Song.

They began writing together in 1967 after answering an NME ad.

John and Taupin performed an all-star tribute concert at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday after the dinner.

Billy Porter hosted the festivities and led a lineup of musical stars, including 2023 Gershwin Prize honoree Joni Mitchell, 2020 honoree Garth Brooks.

... Annie Lennox, Brandi Carlile, Metallica, Maren Morris, Charlie Puth, and Jacob Lusk of Gabriels.

The Library of Congress media website said awardees John and Taupin would also attend their big night.

John (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight), 76, sat in the audience in a nice pink suit with a white button-down and black trim on the collar and sleeves.
