Jets Sign WR Mike Williams

The Chargers' explosive wide receiver Mike Williams has joined the Jets.

Williams, a 2017 first-round pick (No. 7) from Clemson, has played in 80 games (62 starts) with the Chargers over the last seven seasons

catching 309 passes for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns.  with 2019, he lead the league with yards per reception (20.4) and received over 1,000 yards (49-1001-2) and 2021 (76-1146-9).

Williams, 6-4 and 218 pounds, was one of the league's best jump-ball and deep throw receivers, and sophisticated stats show it.

Williams has led the NFL with 15.8 yards per reception (250 catches) since 2018. Next Gen Stats listed 22.1% of Williams' 2018-23 targets as deep throws.

This is the fifth-highest percentage among 250-target players.

Williams has the second-best yards at catch per reception in the NFL behind five-time Pro Bowl WR Mike Evans (12.2)

Over the past six seasons, the Jets' newest weapon has been a top-two downfield playmaker.
