Kate Herron and Briony Redman's 'The Sims' Movie to Be Produced by LuckyChap and Vertigo Entertainment

LuckyChap principals Margot Robbie, Josey McNamara, and Tom Ackerley will produce with Roy Lee for Vertigo Entertainment.

Kate Herron, who directed “Loki,” will co-write with Briony Redman. Their last script was a “Doctor Who” episode. Herron will direct a second-season “The Last of Us” episode.

Since its 2000 debut, “The Sims” has sold over 200 million copies. In Electronic Arts' sandbox games, players control virtual "Sims," meeting their wants and replicating their lives

working, finding love, and raising children (or, for more cruel gamers, placing them in a pool and removing the ladder).

The “Sim” series began with Will Wright’s 1989 “SimCity.” “The Sims” is part of it. No cast has been announced for the film.

LuckyChap produced Warner Bros.' “Barbie,” Prime Video's “Saltburn” from Emerald Fennell, and Sundance favorite “My Old Ass” with Aubrey Plaza, which sold to Amazon MGM Studios for $15 million.

Variety sources say “The Sims” development is still early and CAA is shopping the hot package, so whomever wins the title is unknown.

In February, LuckyChap's main trio received Warner Bros.' key to celebrate the company's new multi-year, first-look film partnership.
