MotoGP 2024 Loss

After changing his morning warmup, Francesco Bagnaia wins his 2024 MotoGP season opener.

Most predicted, Francesco Bagnaia on a 2024 factory Ducati started smoothly, led on the first lap, and easily held off KTM's Brad Binder.

Binder played pass/re-pass with pole-sitter and Saturday sprint winner Jorge Martín (Pramac Ducati) for 21 circuits (reduced one lap due to a start delay).

Marc Márquez, in his Ducati debut, finished fourth.

At the finish, Bagnaia led Binder by 1.33 seconds, with Martín trailing by 0.6 seconds. In the Tissot sprint on Saturday, Martín placed first, Binder second, Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) third, and Bagnaia fourth.

Leading prevents your front tire from being baked by cyclists ahead, Bagnaia learned last year.

Bagnaia's race management was flawless, according to Ducati team manager Gianluigi Dall'Igna.

“His racecraft was flawless. Nothing could have been done better.”
