Friday saw Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald retire. Donald announced his retirement on Twitter.
"Throughout my career, I have given my everything to football both mentally and physically - 365 days a year was dedicated to becoming the best football player I could be," he said in a statement.
Donald, 32, played his entire 10-year career with the Rams, starting in St. Louis and moving to Los Angeles when the team moved.
"As I turn my focus to a new chapter, I don't know what the future holds but I am excited about the off-the-field possibilities," Donald tweeted on Friday.
"I'm excited to spend more time with my children, Jaeda, AJ, Aaric, and Aali, as well as my wife Erica.
Being able to play this game with them was the biggest reward, and I can't wait to see them fulfill their dreams as much as they have watched me fulfill mine."
As per ESPN, only two NFL players in history have played for at least ten seasons and been selected to the Pro Bowl: Donald and Barry Sanders, the legendary player of the Detroit Lions.
According to the Rams website, coach Sean McVay described him as "an elite competitor, someone who leads by example in a way that's authentic to him, and an exceptional teammate who inspires everyone around him to be the best version of themselves."
