Pistons rookie Ausar Thompson will miss the season with a blood clot.

Ausar Thompson, the fifth overall choice in the 2023 NBA Draft, is a rookie forward for the Detroit Pistons.

Despite everything, oThe team announced on Wednesday that Thompson will miss the rest of the season because of a blood clot. nly one defender may be picked in the top-10 this year. It would be the first since 1970's merger.

Additionally, Isaiah Stewart, a big guy, will miss the remainder of the game due to a hamstring problem.  

Although Thompson hasn't played since March 9, he should be fully recovered in time for the upcoming campaign.  

More from the Pistons' press release is as follows: "Under the guidance of Pistons team physician Dr. Ramsey Shehab of Henry Ford Health. 

Thompson has been cleared to resume conditioning and will begin non-contact basketball activities at the conclusion of the regular season with a gradual ramp up over the summer months in preparation for a full return next season."  

In 63 games during his rookie campaign, Thompson shot 48.5% from the field and averaged 8.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals.  

Even though he only shoots 18.6% from beyond the arc on 1.8 attempts per game, Thompson was a highly effective finisher near the hoop and a valuable player on both ends of the court.
