Red Wings Rediscover Confidence with Fischer's Performance 

In the second period, Christian Fischer kneeled to help the Detroit Red Wings snap a seven-game losing streak.

Fischer staggered to the ice but twisted and sent the puck past Buffalo goalkeeper Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. 

 The goal knotted the game 1-1 and gave the Red Wings a 4-1 triumph that put them back in the Eastern Conference wild card.

The Red Wings lead the Islanders by one point with 74 points.  The Sabres trail Detroit by five points. 

 In another playoff game, Lalonde's squad will play the Penguins in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

In all seven games, the Red Wings allowed at least four goals, and James Reimer limited the Sabres to one goal on 26 shots. 

The Sabres beat the Red Wings 7-3 Tuesday.

Fischer added, “Just in a broad sense, I think we really played a complete game, start to finish.
