Still the most iconic figure in alt-rock at 70 years old, Kim Gordon

For Kim Gordon, boundaries are continually challenged.

Her third solo album, ‘The Collective’, shows her artistic flexibility.

Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon: “I don't feel cool” was the headline of a London Times interview in late January, when everyone was anticipating his new solo album, which came out on March 8.

Gordon, who turns 71 in April, did the coolest thing.

She posted The Times interview on Instagram with the caption “I haven’t read it as I don’t have a subscription”.

Since co-founding Sonic Youth with her ex-husband Thurston Moore in 1981, Gordon has been one of the greatest alternative rock icons.

Sonic Youth pioneered alternative music with dissonance, melody, and social commentary.

Gordon, their detuned and aggressive bassist, defined their sound.
