Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Concert Film Destroyed (and Saved) the Fall Film Season…
Taylor Swift was always aware that her record-breaking Eras Tour would not be limited to the mega-sized venues she was selling out.
And she was right: Her accompanying concert film, which takes the enormous three-hour show to its broadest audience yet,
will be the highest-grossing in history when it hits theaters on Oct. 13.
It has already surpassed the previous record holder in the genre, 2011's "Justin Bieber: Never Say Never" ($99 million), in advance global ticket sales.
The film's road to theaters, on the other hand, was as layered and intricate as a Swift lyric,
featuring unconventional techniques, damaged egos, and one massive payoff for the pop diva at the center of it all.
That's not even mentioning the expected windfall for blockbuster-starved exhibitors.
Representatives from the pop star's camp started speaking with major studios before the tour of the summer made it to the big screen in the fall.
