The first thing to focus on is controlling portion sizes.  

For example, in Bolivia, we have something that is similar to a diet that is called TLM.  

"traga la mitad" is the Spanish phrase that translates to "eat half."  

The fact that there are no "you can't eat this" and "you can't eat that" restrictions makes it the most difficult diet to follow.  

All you can eat is half of whatever you want to eat.
