It's common knowledge that 10,000 steps a day is the ideal amount to stay healthy.  

"Increasing physical activity such as your step count through walking contributes to improved cardiovascular fitness, weight management, improved mood, better sleep and enhanced cognitive function,"   

Any kind of exercise can strengthen our immune systems and improve our emotional well-being.  

But walking's main advantages are its ease of use, accessibility, and adaptability, which make it a useful and healthy form of exercise for people of all ages.  

 

"The 10,000 steps a day target seems to have come about from a trade name pedometer sold in 1965 by Yamasa Clock in Japan," Bottoms stated. "Manpo-kei," which translates as "10,000 steps meter," was the name of the instrument.  

 

Numerous studies have demonstrated that at around 7,500–8,500 steps, there is no additional improvement in the risk of cardiovascular disease incidents or all cause mortality.   

"Obviously, this depends on what you do and the kind of meeting you are having, but occasionally I answer business calls while out on the walk.   

. I walk the dogs as soon as I get up and as soon as I go to bed.   

 

I make an effort to go for a walk in the evening before I settle down because I know that once I sit, it will be difficult for me to get back up!
